About Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese method of natural healing based on channeling energy (KI) through the hands. Although this gentle touch therapy is not a substitute for medical care, however it is gentle, non-invasive and non-manipulative so it can be used regardless on one's state of health. Reiki is to be considered a complement to allopathic medicine. It should never to be used as a substitute for proper medical supervision. It is our strong opinion that all health related issues require a consultation with a physician.

What is typical Reiki treatment like?
 

The session begins with a brief discussion of the client’s intent for the Reiki session and is done while you relax fully clothed on a massage table.  You will first relax while lying on your back.  And then you will turn over and relax lying face down.  And finally turn over as the treatment is complete. 
    

What might you experience in a Reiki treatment?      

  1. A feeling of inner quietude, peace and relaxation      
  2. A feeling of lightness or heaviness as you relax deeply      
  3. Sensations of heat, coolness, or tingling as energy moves and balances      
  4. You may see colors, have imagery, receive insights      
  5. Emotions may come to the surface allowing you to cry if you need to      
  6. A release of stress and anxiety     Relieve  symptoms of stress, pain, etc.      
  7. An increase of sensation as increased energy flows to an area.      
  8. A sense of overall well-being  

Ultimately, everyone’s experience is different so it’s best to release any expectations of what the session might feel like and just enjoy the new experience and allow it to be what it is.   

Talking during a session is not recommended unless it is walking through a emotional processing. A calm and quiet session allows you to feel the energy flow and can actually help you become meditative or even fall into deep restful sleep.  
      

Should I choose to use Reiki instead of consulting my medical Doctor?

No, Reiki is a wonderful compliment to traditional medicine but should not be used in place of your doctor's advice.


Does Reiki take the place of counseling?

No, Reiki is not psychological counseling. Reiki practitioners are not trained counselors
